The Gorkhaland Territorial Administration’s (GTA) tourism department has put forward a grand plan to construct a new pavilion at Tiger Hill, one of the most famous tourist sites in Darjeeling. The new pavilion would replace the current one which is considered to be unsafe for visitors by the administration and would provide numerous modern amenities to better the tourist experience.
Tiger Hill is famous for its mesmerizing sunrise view over Mount Kanchenjunga which makes thousands of people visit it each year. With this new structure, we hope that the visitors will feel secure enough when enjoying nature’s own showpiece in the pavilion with warmer central heating system meant for freezing mornings on this highland.
In addition to having central heating the pavilion is intended for doing exercises that will make them healthy, and yoga lessons for relaxation while in the peaceful environment provided by the Himalayas. Moreover, there shall be a medical facility within the same place so as to address any health emergency in time.
For senior citizens who may find it difficult climbing up the hill, an elevator will be at their disposal in the new pavilion. In addition drivers will also have recreational facilities where they can relax and freshen up as tourists witness sunrise.
Additionally, there are plans for sufficient parking spaces accommodating about 1,200 cars throughout different periods annually since this issue gets worse when there are too many visitors.
The new pavilion will not only be better for tourism but will also ensure safety and comfort to all its guests. The aim is to transform Tiger Hill into a top-notch destination that caters even for those who cannot walk or are disabled.
In order to ensure that there is minimal disruption to visitors, arrangements have been made whereby the old pavilion will first be taken down before constructing a new one. GTA seeks to maintain the original glory of Tiger Hill while introducing these ultra-modern facilities.
In Darjeeling alone there have been several other projects aimed at improving local tourism besides Tiger Hill, highlighting the area’s natural beauty and rich heritage. It is anticipated that the new pavilion at Tiger Hill would be a major fascination, therefore attracting more tourists and aiding in boosting the economy of that place.
